Construction Shoring Accident Lawyer

Shoring Injury LawyersShoring is a process used in the construction industry that involves the use of temporary structures to support unstable walls. Shoring can be used when there are issues in the foundation of structure, walls need to be adjusted or when new openings are created in walls. It is important for individuals to abide by the regulations set forth by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) when they proceed with shoring on construction sites.

A failure to abide by these regulations can result in injury due to poor shoring when walls and supporting structures collapse. Construction site employees and even outsiders can be severely injured due to an employer’s negligence in eliminating risk factors when using shoring on a construction site.

Under 29 CFR 1926.651(c), OSHA recommends that employees have an adequate shoring system when they work in an excavation so that they are not exposed to dangers. In addition, 29 CFR 1926.651(q) provides that stronger shoring must be used when employees are operating heavy equipment near an excavation site.

These OSHA regulations seem to be broadly worded to provide the maximum legal protections for employees and to ensure that construction managers maintain proper shoring on construction sites. No employee should have to suffer injury due to poor shoring, and there are lawyers available to help in the event that one has been injured in this manner.

The Dangers of Trench Caves for Workers Involved With Shoring On Construction Sites

OSHA has also warned about the dangers that trench caves can pose to employees. According to OSHA, trenching is one of the most dangerous types of construction work for employees and kills at least 40 employees every year. A common scenario of a trench caving in on employees occurs when workers are dealing with sewer pipes. On its website, OSHA actually provides a real-life example in which employees were severely injured when they were doing trench work. Some workers even died as a result of the lack of safeguards.

At the time of the accident, the construction workers were placing a pipe in the bottom of the trench, and they were severely at risk for being injured due to the lack of protective safeguards in place to protect them in the event of a collapse. All of a sudden, one of the walls did in fact collapse and caused death to three of the workers. Two of the workers were able to escape from the collapse of the trench, but the other three workers were buried alive and died as a result of the accident.

The incident was disturbing, and it showed just how much the construction management company disregarded the OSHA regulations in place that required them to provide safeguards for the employees. In addition, it appears that there were no regular inspections completed of the worksite to keep the company updated on the safety of employees. This was another way in which that company violated OSHA regulations.

Types of Injuries Resulting from Shoring Accidents

Construction workers are at risk for suffering from severe injuries when they are involved in shoring accidents. When a worker is involved in a shoring or trench accident, here are some of the injuries that he or she is at risk for suffering:

It is difficult for most construction workers to escape from a shoring accident unscathed. Usually, there are deaths that result from the collapse of a structure. Whether it is due to the fact that a structure collapses on a worker or the fact that he or she is suffocated by harmful debris, construction site accidents are deathly. Every effort must be made to prevent these harmful construction accidents, and it is vital that construction companies abide by the OSHA regulations that are in place.

Extremely impressed with this law firm. They took control of a bad motorcycle crash that left my uncle seriously injured. Without any guarantee of a financial recovery, they went out and hired accident investigators and engineers to help prove how the accident happened. I am grateful that they worked on a contingency fee basis as there was no way we could have paid for these services on our own. Ethan Armstrong
This lawyer really helped me get compensation for my motorcycle accident case. I know there is no way that I could have gotten anywhere near the amount that Mr. Rosenfeld was able to get to settle my case. Thank you. Daniel Kaim
