The Illinois Department of Health and other private health inspection firms conducted a survey on the level of health care patients receive from the staff and personnel of the health center. The survey brought to the surface, cases of poor patient supervision and abuse which could be construed as nursing home negligence. The nursing home attorneys at Rosenfeld Injury Lawyers reviewed these findings and outlined the following as episodes of poor patient supervision:
- Failure to provide a dignified dining experience: “During lunch dining observation on 04/04/11 at 12:10pm, surveyor observed R2 and R3 in the room eating their lunch. The residents were eating off of a Styrofoam carry out container, cup, bowl, using plastic spoon, knives and fork. R2 and R3 were not observed on isolation. E2, clinical Dietician, on 04/4/11 at 11:00am in the conference room stated,” If they were on contact isolation Styrofoam will be sent. Styrofoam will be used for isolation.”
- Failure to prevent contamination of clean dishes: “At 12:30 on 4/4/11 the dishwashing procedure was observed. E4 was observed loading soiled dishes into the mechanical dishwasher. E4 was wearing rubber gloves. E4 then went to the clean dish exit side to retrieve clean glasses. E4 went to another room to store the clean glasses. E4 failed to remove the gloves and wash his hands.”
