However, the Schaumburg nursing home neglect attorneys at Rosenfeld Injury Lawyers have found numerous complaints, investigations and notations against Friendship Village-Schaumburg. Some of these include:
- Failure to Provide Residents Dignity and Respect
In a summary statement of deficiencies dated 02/28/2013, a complaint investigation was opened due to the facility’s failure “to provide a dignified dining experience for six residents … by not serving meals in a timely manner.” This is in response to an observation made by a surveyor on 2/26/13 at 11:50 AM indicating that a CNA (certified nurses aide) “was assisting [a resident] with her meal, during this time, [another resident] attempted to take [the resident’s] food, several times.”
At this time, a third resident “banged her cup against the table several times.” The CNA redirected that resident saying “she would get her meal soon.” Twenty minutes later, [the second resident] finally “received her tray at 12:10 and started feeding herself right away.” The third resident received her meal at this time “and started feeding herself right away.”
In a second summary statement of deficiencies dated 09/03/2010 a complaint investigation was opened against the facility noting that it “failed to respond in a timely manner to [a resident’s] request for assistance to be put to bed.” This is in response to a review of nurses notes indicating a resident’s “request for assistance to be put to bed was not provided in a reasonable amount of time.”
In a third summary statement of deficiencies dated 02/02/2010 it is noted that the facility “failed to ensure dignity during dining for 25 of 25 residents in the Dementia unit who were observed with bibs.” This is in response to the facility’s failure “to ensure dignity of one resident who was observed eating with bare hands and one resident observed during pressure ulcer treatment without providing privacy and dignity.”
