Chicago Car Accident Lawyers Handling Chubb Insurance Injury Claims
Chubb Insurance Background and Profile
Chubb proudly claims that they “Insure individuals and the things they care about most.” They are being modest because they do so at a great scale. With hundreds of offices in dozens of countries, they bring in revenues close to $15 billion. Since their creation in the late 1880s and introduction onto the New York Stock Exchange (with a symbol of “CB”), they have climbed to the top of the corporate ladder and are one of the largest corporations in the United States (180th as of a few years ago). Until recently, they even owned a number of technical schools, known as The Chubb Institute, that specialized in design, administration, and network systems.
Chubb divides its products primarily into two divisions: personal and business. In the personal line of insurance products, they really specialize in insuring cars, homes, and boats. For businesses, they sell a wide range of customizable items, including some of the following:
- Property and casualty insurance
- Professional liability insurance
- Health insurance
- Accident insurance
- Other miscellaneous financial solutions.
While this diversity might attract and entertain many customers, Chubb has chided many others the wrong way and some of them have taken the insurance company to court. What follows now is a simple of review of all of Chubb’s litigation over the last ten years (since 2005). This will illustrate the areas where plaintiffs have been successful in finding recovery against this giant.
Suing Chubb Insurance Directly or Through Their Insured's For Chicago Auto Injury Cases
Unfortunately, for would-be plaintiffs hopeful to receive some compensation for an injury caused by Chubb or for a policy provided by Chubb, the largest bloc of people suing it received no award or settlement. Fortunately, there is good news as well. However, it should be first noted that while insurance was the most common subject of cases (as is the case with litigation against other insurance companies), employment matters also occupied a not-too-distance second place. Aside from those who received nothing, and across all categories, what is heartening to see is that almost sixty percent (60%) of plaintiffs received more than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00). Plus, nearly an astounding thirty percent (28% to be exact) recovered more than one million dollars ($1,000,000.00).
This good news carries forward into the distinct group of cases revolving around insurance as the subject matter of litigation against Chubb. Here, almost seventy percent (70%) of all plaintiffs gathered more than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) through jury award or settlement. The numbers for those falling between one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) and one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) and those falling above one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) are also high above the norms compared to their counterparts who sued other insurance companies, 23% and 41% respectively.
For cases involving car accidents, plaintiffs also had very good luck as opposed to those against other insurers. Only twelve percent (12%) of them lost to Chubb (i.e. received no award or settlement). Also, surprisingly, a very small number of plaintiffs recovered smaller sums: merely thirteen (13%) garnered under one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00). This left a large swath of people who received either between one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) and one million dollars or those who received more than one million dollars ($1,000,000.00), forty-three percent (43%) for the former and thirty-two percent (32%) for the latter. Thus, compared to other insurers, plaintiffs had extraordinary success obtaining significant awards and settlements from Chubb. The number of people receive high six-figure and seven-figure sums was really not matched in litigation against other providers.
