  1. Crash Reports

A traffic collision report should be completed for all motor vehicle collisions that involve an injury or damage to a person’s property over $1,500. To obtain a copy of your crash report, contact the Naperville Police Department Records Section and provide the report number, incident date, name, and location. There is a $5 fee for each copy.

  2. Other Police Reports

To obtain copies of police reports besides traffic reports, including incident reports, you must request them under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA. Many other records can be ordered through FOIA. These include records of zoning and fire code violations, public utilities, the Boards of the Fire and Police Commissions, human resources, legal departments, and even liquor licensing. The Illinois FOIA statute keeps government actions transparent to the public. It also holds our government officers and employees accountable to the people of Illinois. See 5 ILCS §140/1.

You can make a FOIA request for Naperville police reports in person or online through the city’s FOIA document portal. You must provide your name and contact information, including email, a detailed description of the records or report you seek, and your preferred document delivery method.

You can have the documents delivered online to the document portal, inspect the documents on-site, pick up paper copies, or have the documents emailed to you. You can also attach any documents you think may assist the city in locating the report you are requesting.

- Michonne Proulx

Extremely impressed with this law firm. They took control of a bad motorcycle crash that left my uncle seriously injured. Without any guarantee of a financial recovery, they went out and hired accident investigators and engineers to help prove how the accident happened. I am grateful that they worked on a contingency fee basis as there was no way we could have paid for these services on our own.

- Ethan Armstrong

Jonathan helped my family heal and get compensation after our child was suffered a life threatening injury at daycare. He was sympathetic and in constant contact with us letting us know all he knew every step of the way. We were so blessed to find Jonathan!

- Giulia

This lawyer really helped me get compensation for my motorcycle accident case. I know there is no way that I could have gotten anywhere near the amount that Mr. Rosenfeld was able to get to settle my case. Thank you.

- Daniel Kaim

Jonathan did a great job helping my family navigate through a lengthy lawsuit involving my grandmother's death in a nursing home. Through every step of the case, Jonathan kept my family informed of the progression of the case. Although our case eventually settled at a mediation, I really was impressed at how well prepared Jonathan was to take the case to trial.
